Big Banging

qafbigbang!!! You guys! A big bang for QAF - now I don't think I can actually write a QAF big bang, however, I have signed up to do art for it, and if anyone on my flist reads/writes/arts for QAF then you need to get over there now! I'm excited!

In other big bang news ... apocabigbang I kind of want to scrap my whole idea and start with something new, but OMG draft due on the 5th! I foresee a lot of write or die in my very near future.

Ummmmm.... yeah, still working on that kradam fic, I think I've got a pretty good idea of where I want to go with it now, so maybe in the next few days we will be seeing that.

Also I want to move after a few conversations I had today.

Does the write or die thing actually work well?

It works really well for me, because I am most definitely a procrastinator of epic proportions and I can do the write or die thing and crank out a very large word count in just a few hours, So I like that about it.

The reward/punishment thing about it is really good especially for me because I usually am doing like 5 other things when I am writing and it just forces me to focus on writing for the whole amount of time I've selected to write for or until I reach my desired word count.

You input a desired amount of time you want to write for as well as your desired word count, and then you choose your consequences - on gentle mode the screen will turn red when you stop writing, on normal mode the screen will turn red and then a horrible noise will start to play if you don't start writing again, and on kamikaze mode it will start deleting your work if you stop writing. (I've never written on Kamikaze or Gentle mode, the motivation of Normal mode works pretty well for me). And then you pick your grace period - I keep it on strict and it usually gives you about 10-15 seconds to stop writing before it starts with it's punishments.

And then you press write and you're taken to a page with a word counter, a count down clock and a very large text area and you just write.

It's all about writing without editing and without thinking you just keep writing for the entire time you've selected or until you've reached your desired word count.

Easy peasy!
