Made it back to Texas last night, I survived. I was welcomed back by amazing weather and a migraine that threatened to end my life and slept for 10 hours. Then there was work today - no one did any filing for the week I was gone, took forever today. We're at the new office, I have a closet for a workspace. I bought a chair for my desk and a fan, aaaaaand ... yeah. Still have a tickle in my throat, but my voice is back.

I need to do laundry and put away my bags (soooooo many bags)

the end.

My Monday let me show you it:

1. The Social Security Office - Man I thought the DMV was terrible and soul crushing. At least I had the forethought to bring along the DS, Link and I ran around collecting rabbits and delivering treasure for 2 hours for my >5 minute meeting with the dude at the window. But at least I'll be getting a new card soon.

2. The Office - OMG you guys. So they've been doing some work in the space next to our office for a while now (since I've started) I can hear them banging around through the wall and all of that. Well turns out they were doing some work on the plumbing this weekend. Some plumber cut a pipe he wasn't supposed to cut, but rather than cap it off and seal it, he taped it. He taped a pipe that water runs through and was like okay that's all fixed.

Yeah. Right.

So when I got to the office after dealing with the SS office, oh the things that greeted me. All of our electronics - my entire work space, completely covered in water, from a weekend spent being poured on. Our fax machine, my phone, the credit card machine, the modem, the router just ... argh.

The building manager was there, they'd pulled up the carpet, moved all our files that are stored under my desk and were reboxing them in new dry boxes. I had to air out the faxes, order a new credit card machine, deal with the mover who came today to give us an estimate for our move next month, trying to find a way to get faxes that absolutely can not wait.

Just bleh.

Jobs

I am now a member of the employed!

I got a job with ChaCha today, it's not a whole ton of money, but it is money that I wasn't earning before and that is the important part.

And it just means one step closer to real employment, hopefully.

Cha Cha on

So tonight I applied for and was accepted as a Cha Cha guide, for ChaCha. I watched like an hour of boring orientation videos and then took a test. And now I am awaiting my results so I can start doing this mess (and make some monies) - ha I jumped every time a new question popped up, there's this really shrill doorbell sound with it and it was killing me.

In other news, just a few more days till the [livejournal.com profile] rpf_big_bang art gets posted, there have been some really nice things posted there so far, and I'm eager for the rest.

Driving up to Waco on Thursday to pick up my sister, because if we have to sit through the really awful family function that's taking place this weekend then she does as well - because hey we like to share our family craziness and college is no excuse to miss out on that.

And we're looking at houses tomorrow. I'm so proud of my mom, after the shit fest my dad left her with when they divorced she has finally gotten her credit fixed and now she has been approved to buy a house of her very own. We're all excited, apart from the whole moving thing - which is going to suck major. But yay new house that's actually ours :D

yeah

So today ranks pretty low on the good day scale, it was pretty much the type of day that makes you want to kick things (which I did) and walk out during your break (which I did not). And now for some regularly scheduled drabbles, two tonight as I missed last night.

the first is Colin's first time as requested by [livejournal.com profile] fate_envies_us

I realize I have been lax in my updates recently - mostly because there wasn't much happening ... up until this past Friday that is.

I got to go home and visit my family for the first time since February, so that was lovely - being down in Austin again (where I hope to be moving around May) and seeing my mom and sisters and even my brother. It was a really good opportunity to just recharge and relax and stop worrying about everything if only for a few days.

And then wonder of wonders, on Friday I got a call about a job interview I went to last week on Wednesday - and I got the job.

So the Mal is now a JCP associate. *dances*

So this week (mon-today) I've been in training and stuff and today was my first day out on the floor for reals - ringing up customers and such. Had one lady who was a real bitch, but apparently she's a bitch every time she comes in, so it wasn't too bad.

And my feet are killing me and I'm exhausted, but I am so glad to have a job again, I hated not having one and so things seem to be turning around finally.

Other sad thing is my paid account has run out recently, I haven't decided if I'm gonna renew it yet - partially because I don't have the funds, but doods I hate the ads on my page now - they are totally taking away from the beauty of BJ!

So I had my interview this morning/afternoon. And I think it went really well, they said they were very impressed with me and that they liked what I had to say and that I was very professional. So yayz (yes I am a professional).

So now I just have to wait, I am sending off a thank you note at some point to give them a little bit more incentive to vote for Mal, and then we'll see if I hear from them.

I would really love to have this job, so let's all keep our fingers crossed.

So I am headed to a job interview this morning. Wish me luck folks, cause I really need a new job, lest I be thrown out on to the street with my roomie.

So fingers crossed for this, or the other job I'm calling about after this interview. No one wants Mal on the street, do they?

And my family is coming later today, since my birthday is coming up. :D

Also, I didn't get enough sleep last night, bonus!
