I stepped out of a supernova...

I found this really poignant.
I've been wrestling with the idea of religion/science/belief for a while now, I grew up Catholic, and then we converted to Methodists, and then I went to college, and I joined an ultra conservative church that had broken off from the Methodist church. We learned about speaking in tongues, and demon possession, and prophecy and so many other different things. And I believed it, I strove to be the kind of person I should be involved in that kind of chuch, in that kind of faith, but I never lived up to it, even in it's most basic form.
These days, I'm not sure what I believe anymore, where I fit into the idea of faith. I'm still working on it, but I've always loved the power and the span of the universe. It makes it impossible for me not to believe in something. Not the Christian God, and not really even a single God, but there is something more to life than just trying to live up to a set of rules laid out for us by men thousands of years ago.

Date: 2010-11-20 05:25 am (UTC)I have a lot of conservative friends as well as liberal atheist friends and I do not believe that science and faith are mutually exclusive. I think, if anything, I've found a deeper sense of faith in a Creator the more I learn from science.
But that's just me ;)
