Title: Glow
Disclaimer: I don't own any of this
Rating: G
Summary: Charlie comes home after work to his family
Characters: Charlie Weasley/Harry Potter and their kids
Word Count: 324
A/N: The third instillation in the
7snogs table, and day 7 of the
mini_nanowrimo. For and with help from
silverius408.
A/N 2: Again this is written with
silverius408 and my version of Harry/Charlie so we don't care about canon.
The sun was slipping down over the horizon, the way it usually did when Charlie came home, casting a warm orange glow across their little home. It always made Charlie smile, coming home – to know that Harry was waiting for him, and their kids. Their wild brood of children.
If he’d been asked 10 years ago if he ever pictured himself here at some point in his life he would have laughed. Charlie always knew he was going to end up alone, and for the most part he was alright with that – he had his family, he had his job, and that was all he needed really. He didn’t need a family of his own; he didn’t need a husband or kids.
But then Harry had come along; he’d always been just Ron’s friend, always there at family gatherings and holidays, almost a member of the family. And suddenly he wasn’t just his kid brother’s friend – he was Harry, and Charlie was never quite sure how that had happened.
But here they were now, years later with four kids and Charlie had never been happier. He couldn’t say now how he might have pictured his life now if it weren’t for Harry. But Harry had been there to save him from himself. Harry made him into the man he was today – though he was still as stubborn as hell, and the same sarcastic prat he’d always been – he just didn’t have to be any of that alone.
Charlie saw Harry look up when he entered the dining room while he was settling Brian into his high chair. The sun finally slipping down past the horizon as he stepped into the room. Derian, Rhydian, and Natalie all began chattering about their days which made him chuckle. Harry ruffled the boys’ hair as he walked over to Charlie, leaning his head back for a kiss which Charlie happily gave him. "Glad you're home."
“Me too, love.”
