Been watching SPN season 3 with my sister the last few days, we finished it tonight. I can sort of see how people missed the whole saving people, hunting things plot line, the first few episodes like that made me smile - we're starting in on season 4 now, which is still saved to the dvr (or at least most of it is). I still really love the whole angels vs. demons and all that plot line but it's fun to have the mindless entertainment of the new monster of the week too.

I didn't get to see Ghostfacer's when it originally aired and apparently I didn't ever try and watch it through other means either so that was fun to watch.

it's kind of crazy to see how much Sam changes from seasons 1 & 2 to seasons 3 & 4, it's especially obvious in Lazarus Rising when Sam lies to Dean so easily, like he doesn't have any problem at all with lying right to Dean's face the way he does about Ruby and using his mind power or whatever. It's just sort of interesting to see the changes that happen to the boys throughout the course of the series. I'm looking forward to see how things turn up in season 5.

Also I miss Sam's haircut from season 1

I was about to start an entry EXACTLY LIKE THIS. My sister and I have been watching season 3 the past week (her for the first time, me for the second time) and I was surprised at how different I felt watching those episodes this time around, taking into account season 4. Dude... Gordon was absolutely RIGHT, and it was so hard to watch it and be completely on-board with him this time around when the first time I couldn't wait for Dean or Sam to off him.

My one big thought through this re-watch is that I'm so effin' glad the Writer's Strike happened. If not for the big wrench in the spokes, Show would've continued on in the same MotW vein and Sam would've saved Dean and neither character would've had the kind of compelling growth and change that they've experienced this past season.

But dude, I gotta disagree, I couldn't stand Sam's hair until third season. (Was never a fan of cute-BOY-Sam, but rather, morally-gray-MAN-Sam.)

I just finished season 3 as well. Love it. Dean most though.

I think though they planned on Dean going to hell period. He had to for season four too happen.
