acquiescenceBeen a long while since I've done one of these (have I ever?) but since participating in the recent Dean/Castiel Friending Meme, there are a few more new people roaming around my lj than usual so I thought I'd do one of those a little bit about me posts just so everyone can get to know me a little better.
About Me:
I'm Mallorie, mostly I'm called Mal by my friends and things. I'm 24 and I live in Austin, Texas. I used to live up in Abilene, Texas - it's where I went to school and earned my degree (in English - though I'm sure you'd never be able to tell). I lived up there for a few years after graduating because I was convinced I was a conservative, and a lot of my friends still lived up there.
But slowly I came to realize that I'm a little gay, and I didn't quite buy into that church thing as much as I thought I did - at least not the church I was going to. And so I stopped going (and they had an intervention for me XD) and I moved out from living with my ultra-conservative roommate's place and in with another friend. But then my few remaining friends graduated as well. And I was faced with a decision to either try and scrape by on the ~650/month I was making working at JCP or move home for a while.
I moved back in with my mom.
That was early last year. I've been searching for a job since then, and working on graduate school applications and things like that since moving home - and dealing with all the joys of living with my family again.
I am an avid book reader, and I'm always looking for something new to read since I go through books pretty quickly. My favorite author is Haruki Murakami and his book Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World is my favorite book. I love all sorts of genres of books, anything from fiction/fantasy to literary criticism. God, I love literary criticisms, I love breaking books down with lit theory and relating it back to other things and ... just don't get me started. It'll probably be safer for us all.
I love music too - all sorts, I am the opposite of a music snob. I love pop and things just as much as I love indy music. Some of my favorite artists these days are: Dashboard Confessional, Take that, and Lady Gaga. Also ... Jensen Ackles singing, it kills me dead. (Only click here if you think you can handle it - he sings the high parts and the second verse.)
My journal:
My journal is a bit of a catchall, I use it for whining about my life and things, and squeeing about my fandoms. And an occasional meme, and when I get around to writing fic.
My main fandom - at least the one I spend the most time reading/watching/squeeing about is Supernatural. I love this show so much, I love the character dynamics and the way it's shaping up in it's most recent season. I write a small big of fic from this fandom - mostly I just need prompts to write more so always feel free to throw prompts my way. I love all the characters from the show - and I don't participate in character bashing of any sort. I'm the loving sort and I find things to love in all the characters new and old.
I am madly and passionately and obsessively in love with Jeffrey Dean Morgan, I love fic with him in it, I love pictures with him in them, I love talking about him, and reading about him. I especially love reading about him in fic with Jensen Ackles (or Misha Collins too for that matter).
I also might talk occasionally about the HP RP I play in (because I'm a dork).
Some of the other shows I watch and may occasionally talk about include: Dollhouse, The Big Bang Theory. My friends are making me work my way through Buffy (though I'm not sure how I feel about it) and I like to watch and rewatch Queer as Folk.
I am not a fan of spoilers - at least when it comes to SPN. I like to avoid them as much as possible. And I do my best to post possible spoilers under cuts and things.
And um... that might be it. Feel free to comment whenever you like about anything really.
