Well here it is the first of my summer challenges. Heh, and when I should be doing other things, but I really got inspired with this one and it wrote itself really easily. :)

The wedding was beautiful. It was in the Weasley’s backyard; Arthur and Molly really had done a wonderful job setting everything up – but how often would their only daughter get married?

Ginny looked beautiful, and she practically glowed as she smiled at her husband. Hermione was always surprised Ginny had ended up with Neville, but they really did make a nice couple.

Hermione sat down at one of the tables that sat through out the yard for the reception. The entire Weasley family was there along with many of the Order members and friends of the family. She came alone, one of the few that had; Harry came with Pansy and Ron with Luna. So, when the dancing had started she had decided to sit down and watch rather than be a wall flower. It looked like it would rain as she looked up at the sky.

“Why Miss Granger you seem to be all alone.”

Hermione jumped, the voice against her ear had startled her. He chuckled, his breath warm against her neck. She had her hair up for once. She knew who it was immediately after that.

“Honestly Charlie, why must you insist on doing that? You know I hate it.”

“Maybe that’s why I do it.” He smirked and sat down beside her.

“Why must you be such a prat?” Hermione rolled her eyes and turned away from him.

“Hermione, I’m hurt.” He feigned a wounded look.

She hated when he flirted with her, but she also loved it. She knew he only thought her a child and was only flirting with her because there was no available witch closer to his own age. She’d had a crush on him since she had spent the holidays at the Burrow in her 6th year. He’d been home visiting for a week over the winter holiday. She’d never realized how good looking he was before then. Of course, he’d never see her as anything other than Ron’s annoying know-it-all friend.

“Would you like to dance?” He waggled his eyebrows at her, she gave him a look.

It was the little game they played, Charlie flirting, Hermione pretending she didn’t enjoy it.

“Well do you?” He stood up from the table and offered her his hand.

Hermione looked at him warily before taking his hand. Charlie swept her into the middle of the other dancing couples.

“You know Hermione, things would be a lot better between us if you would stop pretending you don’t love it when I flirt with you,” he said conversationally.

“Honestly, I don’t know what you’re talking about Charlie?” She hoped she sounded just as cool as he did, but she started to worry. What would he do if he found out his kid brother’s friend had a crush on him.

“For someone who is so smart, you don’t act like it all the time.” Charlie grinned at her.

She chewed on her lower lip and looked up at him as he held her tight against him.

“Charlie I –”

His lips descended on hers stopping her before she said too much. It was quick, but with a promise of more. His lips were warm against hers and she felt all her tension melting away.

“You know, if you hadn’t always been too busy being annoyed with my flirting you would know I’m crazy about you.” He smirked.

Hermione pushed back from him looking at him incredulously. Charlie gave her his best roguish grin and pulled her against his chest again; one hand slipping down the curve of her back to rest against her bum. And for once, Hermione decided not to be her analytical-self and just let him; she rest her head against his chest as they moved back and forth to the soft floating melody that filled the air.

Even as the heavens opened sending the crowd of wedding guests to seek shelter under quickly conjured tents, Hermione and Charlie never stopped their slowly turning motion. Well after the rain had soaked them both, and Hermione’s red knickers were visible through her now see through dress they continued to dance, their lips meeting once more.
