Cooking :D
Aug. 9th, 2009 01:51 amI went with my mom and sister to see Julie/Julia last night. It was really fun and cute and made me want to cook so much, lol. I had a good time seeing it and it's just really sparked that desire in me to cook more.
I used to do a lot of cooking when I lived on my own, since my friends tended to be a little adventurous so I got to try new things often and just have a lot of fun with it. Since I moved home, I haven't gotten to cook as much and no where near as adventurous as I had been in the past - my family is scared of new things, and things without meat.
In any case I decided to get a few things to do a little cooking this upcoming week even if I am the only person who will eat any of it. And I am even going to break out of cooking stir-fry (which is my at least once a week meal - since I can play with it just a little bit and the family will still eat it, plus I love Asian food :D). So we'll see how this cooking stuff turns out, in any case it should be fun to do some real cooking again.
It boggles my mind that some people can grow up not knowing how to cook, even simple things like grilled cheese, or spaghetti. A girl I used to live with had never done any real cooking when she was growing up so when she was on her own she didn't do any either and ate out for ever single meal of the day - ever day. Even when my other roommate and I did some of the cooking she still wound up having a hamburger or a pizza instead - boggles.
I suppose it's just strange to me because I grew up cooking, I started making dinner for the family when I was 13 or 14 and kept it up until I moved out. These days we take turns so my sisters know how to cook as well - though the youngest claims she can't, but she's 16 she can handle it.
Cooking this week! There shall be updates! Hooray :D
