“I know but I just didn’t think I would have to make a decision like this at the end.”
“You’ll make it, love.”
“But what will he say? How can I just do this to him – after everything?”
“He’ll make it; he’s my brother after all.”
“I don’t know if I can do this.” She looked up into his honeyed eyes, tears in her own.
“Think about it Mione, this is the rest of your life we’re talking about here, can you really stay with him just because you’re afraid to hurt him now?”
She bit her lower lip and shook her head. It was true, she knew what she needed to do but that didn’t make it any easier. This really was the end.
He drew her against his chest once more and pressed his lips to hers. This was hard for him, as well. “I know, love.”
“I know you’re right, but that doesn’t make this any easier.” She smiled bitterly and George wiped the tears from her eyes.
