[personal profile] acquiescence
Been pretty quiet around here for the last few days. I've been writing, one day I will finish this fic and stop just talking about it... it'll happen.

In the mean time:

1. How often do you write and how do you feel about your output?
Usually a bit every day - some days the output is better than others. Usually my best writing time is late at night, after midnight when everyone else has gone to bed so I can really concentrate.

2. Where does your inspiration come from? Where do you get your ideas?
Most often it's talks with friends. There should be a fic about this.... I'll write it!

3. What are the first things you write? Dialogue? Sex? Something else?
Does an outline count? When I know I'm writing something long, I like to outline it before I start. When it's something short I start from the beginning and go from there.

4. How have you improved this past six months/year?
I think I'm getting better at this whole thing, I think the outlining thing has really helped me get an idea of what I want from my fics and not just starting something with no idea where it's going.

5. Why do you write?
I've always written, it's just been one of those things I've done since I was a kid. I write because there are words in me that need to come out. Not everything I write is fantastic or maybe even worth the time it takes for me to haev written it, but I write because it's in me to do it.

6. Do you go through highs and lows? What are the triggers?
I do a lot, mostly it has to do with my mood.

7. Do people in RL know you write slash?
Just a few, most people don't though.

8. Where do you write?
I prefer writing at my desktop computer, I like the large screen and such. But I keep a journal with me at all times for jotting down ideas, and my little laptop for when the desktop is just not portable enough.

9. Does music help or hinder?
Generally I like having music, but when I am writing dialogue I tend to turn it off.

10. What are your props?
.... my computer? I usually keep my journal around too for jotting down ideas even when I'm typing things up. It helps physically writing things down sometimes.

11. How seriously do you take your writing/ the writing process?
The majority of what I post I don't take too seriously as a whole, I take the process of writing it seriously - because if I am not going to like what I put out then what is the point of putting any time into it at all in the first place?

12. What are your strengths?
Introspection

13. What are your weaknesses?
Timelines and smut

14. If you beta, what do you get out of it?
I beta in the hopes it'll help me make fewer mistakes when I write - and to put that English degree to use somewhere.

15. What do you write? AUs, crack, PWP, threesomes, crossovers etc.
I think AU can best describe the majority of what I write, but I dabble in a little bit of everything mostly - I just write what I want to write.

16. Which fic have you written that felt like bungee-jumping – you really had to feel the fear and jump?
Long Road Home. My first Big Bang, probably about double the length of anything I'd written prior to it - and it had JDM as the main character, and dudes it's hard writing JDM as the main. Plus character death and apocalypse fic and just ... man.

17. How do you feel about comments?
Love them, does anyone not like comments?

18. Do you give other writers feed-back? Why/why not?
I do, if I can put down the time to actually read through an entire fic, I like to take just a bit more time and let a writer know how I liked it.

19. What is the indicator for you that your fic was a success/worked?
I have a few people I like to read what I've written, and if they like it then it's a success.

20. Do you write in the genre you like reading the most, ie crack, AU, angst etc?
I think so, I like to read AUs most, and that tends to be what I write

21. Do you write a straight through draft or is your first attempt bits and pieces?
Depending on the length I usually bounce around a lot. I usually start at the beginning but I'll end up jumping all over the place while I am writing.

22. What is it about this fandom that is eating your brain?

For me this fandom is Kradam right now, and I think it's very shiny and new and it's just fun, and have you read some of the stuff this fandom is producing? Rawr

23. Is this your first time, or are you a serial monogomar with fandoms?
I've been in several fandoms, I first wrote in HP, and then there was SPN, and J2, and then JDM-fic, and then Star Trek, and now it's this... I don't ever really leave a fandom either, I may not squee as much about the older ones, but I still read them, and I like talking about them.

24. Do you do drabbles, comment fic, challenges with deadlines – and how do you get on with these?
I like doing drabbles - they're a fast easy way for me to get a scene out of my head, or some sort of small interaction between characters that I want to see without making a big production of it. And the same with comment fic, sometimes you just have to take those prompts cause you can't help it. I like signing up for challenges but man I fail at deadlines.

25. Anything else?
Yep. I think this might have been for a specific fandom but I stole it for me ... ha!
